Who We Are

We are the spiritual descendants of the Pilgrims who came to North America on the Mayflower in 1620, seeking freedom to worship God.

Believing in the importance of education, they founded Harvard, Yale and many other well-known universities. As champions of freedom, they were prominent signers of the Declaration of Independence and influential in drafting the Constitution of the United States.

They believed every Christian should be free to follow the dictates of the conscience, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Instead of subscribing to a creed they entered into a covenant relationship with God and one another, promising to " Walk together in all His ways, according as He is pleased to reveal himself unto us in His blessed word to truth." (Salem Church Covenant 1629)

In matters spiritual, they regarded each congregation as a complete church, independent, but also in fellowship with sister churches. Since they conceived of authority as vested in the congregation, they were known as CONGREGATIONALISTS.

The Congregational Church of Sun City is a member of the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches.
